About

My Name is Imran Khan and I completed my MS degree in Multimedia and Communications from M.A.Jinnah University, Islamabad, Pakistan in Fall 2009.

Currently, I'm working as Research Engineer at Telecom SudParis with Prof. Noel Crespi at Network and Service Architecture Lab. Here my work focuses on design of Telecom Architecture for Internet of Things (IoT). I'm working in collaboration with Prof. Roch Glitho of Concordia University, Montreal Canada and will share my time between the two places.

Before this I worked as visiting researcher with Prof. Dr. Houda Labiod of L'école Télécom ParisTech, Paris, France involving completion of an implementation of a mobility management mechanism for Vehicular Ad hoc Networks.

I implemented virtual link mechanism to support group communication in NS2. I also designed simulation scenarios for the performance evaluation of SiFT trajectory based routing protocol using SUMO and NS2.

Before coming to France I worked on a project 'EduScope' funded by Internet Society (ISOC) at Center of Research in Networks and Telecom - CoReNeT (http://corenet.org.pk)

I remained active member of CoReNeT from May 2008 to May 2010. During this time I also managed the weekly activities of the group.

My research interests include the investigation of transport and network layer issues of wireless ad hoc networks, service architecture of next generation networks (NGN).

I also conceived and prepared a project proposal for STIC Asie funding programme by French ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely, "Vehicle based Road/Environment Condition Warning System using Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs)". This project involves real-world deployment of the VANETs to ensure road safety. The proposal was accepted officially on 17th May 2010 and the project started in August 2010. The project includes 3 partners, M. A. Jinnah University (Pakistan), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (Malaysia) and Telecom SudParis (France).

I've been actively involved in simulation based studies of routing protocols. I have expertise in NS2 based simulations and I've used it extensively for my research work in MS and after.

I also have programming experience using C/C++ and Java and used MATLAB during bachelors' degree for research work in digital watermarking .
